| askBishop.com is a wholly owned
subsidiary of Bishop Enterprises Corporation. Patsy Bishop founded
Bishop Enterprises in 1984 as a small consulting business that focused on
using technology to solve customer service problems. She
incorporated the business in Delaware in 1987. She remains the sole
stockholder in the business. Bishop Enterprises Corporation is a
female-owned, minority enterprise. In 1999, we were asked to provide help desk type services to executives. We started what we call our Executive Help Desk service (the Platinum Plan, in the current promotion). We continued to provide extensive computer services to executives, small business owners, and health care professionals. We have been encouraged to expand our service offerings to people who need limited help. That began the askBishop.com set of offerings. Offering a full service computer information service without corporate support is an interesting challenge. We would like to be as independent and competent to the technology services world as Consumer Reports is to appliances. One of our challenges is to provide the best advice possible, without being tied into a particular supplier. We accept free samples as test items, but never recommend based on what we have received. We do not accept advertising or financial incentives for any products. One of our challenges is to provide a high level of service at a reasonable cost. One of the ways we do this is by hiring physically challenged employees who don't have to leave her/his residence to be gainfully employed. Patsy's mom had polio as a child and was confined to a wheelchair for most of her life. She was a seamstress who did beautiful work. She is our inspiration. We do not outsource our work. While several of our employees, including Patsy, have a strange, Southern accent, it comes from Tennessee, not a classroom in India. Each employee is screened for her/his ability to communicate effectively over the telephone. Dave is forbidden from using the telephone or talking to customers too much at all. Our staff does not have a fleet of cool looking cars or trucks professing our geekiness. Those cost money and, in our opinion, don't provide value. While the Geek Squad, Geeks-On-Call, and Firedog all have their place, we specialize in having patient, effective communicators who can help you. Each of our staff are investigated before they gain access to your personal information. We are a Microsoft Business Partner and work with Sage Software (Peachtree Accounting), QuickBooks Accounting and Point of Sale, and other suppliers. These relationships help us get current, best information. We also write some software, especially for help desks and web sites.
